God Can Make Us Perfect Instantly, But He Doesn’t – about Purgatory
God could change us on earth in the blink of an eye if He wanted to. We know sins are washed away through Baptism (Jn. 3:5, 4:1, Acts 2:38, 22:16) and Confession (Jn. 21:21-23), but we are not instantly made perfect.
-
God could change us the moment we enter into eternity (if we are saved), but He does not do this for anyone with sinful attachments and anyone needing to atone for sins.
-
Human beings are very stubborn even in very small things. Human will is often very hard to change. God respects our human will. God lets us decide if we want to seek a small degree or large degree of perfection on earth. God does not force us to grow and learn about the Catholic faith, and to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love others as we love ourselves.
-
At our death, God could transform our will instantly, but He lets those who are saved be purified in Purgatory so that we become humble like Jesus who was born in poverty, died on the cross like a criminal, and remains with us hidden under the appearance of the sacred species. Purgatory atones for our sins and makes the human will fully conform to all of God’s eternal laws and His loving ways, in order to prepare us to enter fully into the awesome presence of the Most Blessed Trinity.
-
Purgatory is a logical extension of our pursuit of perfection and holiness on earth. However, it is far more excruciating and difficult, because we know God exists, but we sinned and did not reject all the evils inside and outside of us, and we must depend on others to pray and sacrifice for us.
-
Purgatory is a great and wonderful gift from God. Our prayers and sacrifices help the souls in Purgatory. PRAY DAILY AND OFFER MASSES FOR THEM OFTEN. THEY WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL TO US.

VATICAN COUNCIL II ON PURGATORY – Fully conscious of this communion of the whole Mystical Body of Jesus Christ, the pilgrim Church from the very first ages of the Christian religion has cultivated with great piety the memory of the dead, and “because it is a holy and wholesome thought to pray for the dead that they may be loosed from their sins”,(2 Mach. 12, 46) also offers suffrages for them. This Sacred Council accepts with great devotion this venerable faith of our ancestors regarding this vital fellowship with our brethren who are in heavenly glory or who having died are still being purified; and it proposes again the decrees of the Second Council of Nicea,[787 AD 300 bishops attending], Council of Florence [1439 AD] and Council of Trent [1563 AD – varying numbers of bishops attending.] – Dogmatic Constitution on the Church, Lumen Gentium, 50-51
The greatest tragedy in life is not to become a saint. . .
Life is so short – God is so real
Please do not waste a moment of your life. Do not wait to give your life to Jesus. Give your life to Jesus today, and serve Him now. Decide to live your life for Jesus now! From this moment on, place yourself in His hands. God has great love for every single person. It is up to us to accept or reject His love.
The only purpose of life is to prepare to spend eternity with God. Why die and be terrified or shocked? Learn all you can now about God and what He wants from every human being. True happiness is only found in discovering and doing the will of God. You have so much to lose if you do not seek and love the God who loves you so much! As St. Augustine wrote: Our hearts were made for You, O Lord, and they are restless until they rest in you.
GOD SPEAKS TO EVERYONE – For I know well the plans I have in mind for you… plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. When you call me, and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me… (Jer 29:11-14)
