Objective and Absolute Truth Exists
At the Mass in 2005 before his election as Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger said in his homily: We are moving towards a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one’s own ego and one’s own desires. However, we have a different goal: the Son of God, true man… He added that our faith must be deeply rooted in friendship with Christ which opens us up to all that is good and gives us the knowledge to judge true from false, and deceit from truth.
NOTE WELL: Teach the Truth to your children and others so they reject the myths and heresies confronting all of us today.
Truth is absolute and objective. Truth is not relative and changing.
Truth exists for all time. Truth is universal and knowable.
Truth judges us; we do not judge or decide what is Truth.
We can discover Truth; we cannot make up Truth.
Just as there are absolute laws in nature, like the speed of light and the laws of gravity, there are absolute laws or Truths about God and all of life.
Some of the Truths we know and believe are:
– God exists and cares how we behave.
– God loves everyone immensely and Jesus died to save every person.
– Human life is sacred from conception to natural death.
– Every person has dignity and should be treated with respect.
– The Catholic Church possesses the fullness of Truth.
Follow the Catholic Church and those who speak truth in leading the Church. Obedience brings salvation and many graces to us and those around us. Confusion and disobedience bring division and destruction to the world.
Some people say: Your truth is not my truth or Everything is subjective. These statements themselves are false absolute truths created by people. They are deceptions. They are illogical and absurd.
Our actions reveal our beliefs. If we say we are Catholic and we believe in God, but do little to find out about God and what our faith teaches and requires, how much of our faith do we really know and believe? We show great love for others when we speak up for the teachings of our Catholic faith. We show that we love them and their souls which will live forever.
Often, we are embarrassed to be Catholics and to speak up as Jesus spoke up when He saw evil occurring around Him. It is not necessary to nitpick if we have spoken with our words and our example. We are not called to hold grudges or to avoid sinners, because all of us are sinners. We are called to stand up for truth, to love and forgive, and to live in peace with one another.
We are not to judge or condemn any person but we should judge things, as well as moral or immoral acts. Jesus said: You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time? Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right. (Lk 12:56-57) Out of great love for all people, the Bible requires that TRUTH must be proclaimed. Continue to:
Seek Truth. Love Truth. Obey Truth.
